It was probably a good thing Judge Sherry Stephens sealed her reasoning for closing her courtroom and kicking us all out. Because the actual process is so worrisome, she was probably better off if no one knew.

The Arizona Court of Appeals got to see her reasoning in full and cited Stephens's decision-making process in its opinion to overturn her.

The Court of Appeals wrote, "[Arias'] lawyer stated Arias would not testify because the media coverage of her testimony would affect her ability to think and answer questions in a manner 'she truly means' to 'fully actualize her mitigation.'"

PHOENIX (CBS5) - Defense attorneys continue to portray convicted murderer Jodi Arias as a victim of emotional and physical abuse.

And the Arias defense team is hoping if it can convince the jury that Arias was a victim and suffered from some type of mental illness they might give her life in prison and not the death penalty.

Testimony is scheduled to enter its 20th day Thursday in Maricopa County Superior Court.

IMO, JA has played herself to be a victim because she was not given the life she felt she was owed by others.
This is not low self esteem.
First she blamed her mother, then her father, then the different bfs.
With Darryl, however, she DID something different:
She got what she wanted (car, house, boob job) before dumping him and trying to scale up the ladder. And she did not have the finances to maintain the car, the house....

Travis was the next stepping stone to a life she desired.
JA was wanting to control Travis to the altar.
She was threatened of losing her dreamy future by other women so she slit tires, spied, sent emails, etc..
She threatened to tell the bishop BUT! Travis had already told him.... and she was outed... to a small degree.
He found out he was being played and called her out.
JA could not have that Mormon pool of faithful missionaries (single and with futures) slip away.
One word from Travis and she would be finished.
All her ladder climbing days would be over.

Licking her wounds and with tail between her legs, she went home to Yreka to plot her revenge against the man she felt owed her the ladder climb.... the climb to a good life.

Stun gun??? Somehoe (< this was a mistake but I'm leaving it cus of the irony in it) HOW I doubt that cuz she would have used it to stun Travis enough so that he wouldn't have fought so hard for his life and in doing so broke her finger. (However IIRC there was testiphony in the guilt phase that she had cut her finger on a glass at work *EYEROLL* so I figure she was stabbing so hard and franticly at Travis that the knife was slippery and it cut and broke her finger from that. Sorry I'm so graphic at time's but I do think that's how that happened.

One:
Based upon JA's cellphone pics with time stamps, and the statements of co=workers, JA DID cut her finger at work on May 30th. IMO, she may have done this intentionally so she could pull time off from work without arousing attention. Keep in mind:
May 26: Last text-mails with Travis and they were nasty
May 28: Granma's home "broken "into; gun stolen.

Because she failed to report this to the state as required by law, I am sure she would have "hinted" at busting her employer if she was not given the time off.

I don't doubt the cut at this time or location.
IMO, it broke open while she was trying to kill Travis, drag his body.
IF her finger was broken (and I hope it was!) it would have been during the time she was killing him. Travis has deep defensive wounds on is hands and especially near his thumb....

When you consider the whole thing in the bathroom took less than 2 minutes.... you know she acted purposefully and had thot it all out.

When a person writes in a journal, do they not make notations such as:

"Wow! Winter came early and the sky was such a slate gray this day. Felt good to stay curled in bed."

"Like the new song by, ....."

"Going to have a little reunion for Mother's day. Carl said I should be nice today. Bleeeh. Family!"

"Patty is getting married! Be good to see some of the old gang."

"Got to get a new hair style next cut. Not sure what I want but it is time!"

"Angela has a new bf. He is okay I guess. She seems so young to be dating!"

"Going to make a new bucket list of things I want to do. "

"Got a sale going down this week end and I really want to get some cute stuff. Still, I should get serious and start saving so I can get my car out of hock...."

"Life is boring me."

"I was excited to move to Mesa and see Travis. Hope things will work out."

"Mom came down to help me out and we got into a huge argument at this restaurant."

Re: JA's journals.

I think they may very well be legitimate.  The fact that they contain very little that is not "all about Travis" speaks to the totality of JA's complete obsession with Travis.  Clearly, JA made Travis the entire focus of her existence.  If they were fake it would seem that it would have been useful to include JA's made up tales of physical abuse rather than try to explain the absence of such as being due to JA's adherence to the "Laws of Attraction", etc. If I remember correctly, there were several pages in one or more of the journals that are missing and JA claimed that Travis made her tear them out because they were not positive...eg.  Laws of Attraction.  I call BS!  I speculate that these pages are missing because they included diary entries that are very harmful to JA's case. Also, she includes so many entries that are  embarrassing to herself and so much material that is downright harmful to her own case that it just doesn't seem to me that JA would include these things if she were faking it.  But, hey, who knows...after all, we are talking about the warped mind of JA.

I was thinking that it would be interesting to read JA's journal entries during the times that she was together with Bobby, Matt, and Darrell. If these men were the central focus of journals during the respective time that she was with each one then it would show a consistent pattern of JA obsessing over men in her journals. Such a pattern would suggest the authenticity of the journals. However, if JA's journals from past relationships are filled with a rich variety of topics and do not obsessively focus on her boyfriend du jour then that might suggest the journals about Travis are faked in part or whole. What do you think?

I think Jodi and Travis's relationship was highly toxic, and that it is the reason why it ended in such a horrendous manner. Unfortunately, there is nothing extraordinary about this case, cases like this are very common and almost a daily occurrence; many people have been charged in situations that involve the killing of a current or former romantic partner. It is difficult for someone who is emotionally balanced to understand how someone can "snap" and kill "the object of his/her affection". Neither Jodi Arias nor Travis Alexander were celebrities but this become a high profile case because they were a young, attractive couple, and the case involved sex and religion, also because it was a woman, not a man, who committed such a heinous crime.

Yes, unfortunately this is far too true. I occasionally do volunteer community outreach and advocacy work for a 16 bed domestic violence shelter in the Phoenix area. I agree that this case took on a life of its own because the perpetrator was female and the details of the case made for good television ratings. But the truth is that domestic violence is so prevalent that it is difficult to reach and/or help the many victims, mostly women of course. So sad.

My brain may have grown a few cobwebs since the original trial so long ago, but it seems that I remember that JA had many journals in her storage unit that were confiscated by police. These journals dated back to the time JA was about 14. It seems that I remember Alyce La Violette or one of the trial specialists using pre-Travis diaries to establish a pattern of JA's past depression and suicidal ideations.

Unfortunately, I am too short of time to go back through all the JA archives to satisfy my curiosity today. Do any of you happen to remember the specifics of this: were there previous journals or were there no pre-Travis journals?

Would like to know the dates of JA's journals.
Would like to know the date or period of time for the torn out pages.


I understand the documenting of a personal nature from the Church.
And Travis had his journals.... which I do believe JA stole some of them.I think she originally intended to take them just to control and frustrate Travis, make him beg for them back, use them as an excuse to see him again. He was truthful with her when he said he found it hard to stop from seeing her when she offered herself sexually to him.... and so that is what the final meeting was about. She had the last bit of control over him. And it was the sex that opened the door.

IMO JA was trying hard to mirror the image of the "good" Mormon.
Travis showed her that while she might try to mirror that image, she had not become the good Mormon, the future Mormon wife. Im a way, despite her having the last control over his physical life, he had the last say over her spiritually. I am sure she will be frustrated (not haunted) knowing IF she gets the DP, he had the final say thru the agents of Juan and the investigations. For her, it is all about control and nothing else. She is empty inside. She can only mirror what she believes others want to see at a given time.

The missing pages? I am sure they were damning. And Travis' missing journals? Probably just as damning and tattling on her activities of evilness.
