The rest of the Denair house was covered in blood, and two parents were found lying in the hallway, the deputy said of the May 8, 2011, ordeal.

The deputy’s testimony Tuesday in the case of an 18-year-old woman charged with killing her father and injuring her mother held other chilly details.

It's hard to understand what made this physician snap, the relationship has been over awhile. The US Marshals are involved in the search too, hopefully, he is found before he harms someone else.

Another WTF story.

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Police say two children from suburban Chicago who were found bound and blindfolded outside a Kansas Walmart are in temporary protective custody.

Lawrence police spokesman Trent McKinley says the presumed parents of the children have been arrested on suspicion of child abuse and endangerment and will appear in court Thursday.

Police found a 5-year-old boy Wednesday sitting beside a large SUV with his hands tied and a blindfold over his eyes. A bound and blindfolded 7-year-old girl was inside the vehicle, along with three other children, ages 12, 13 and 15.

All the children are in protective custody.

The family, from Northlake, Ill., was heading to Arizona when the vehicle broke down Monday in Lawrence.

McKinley says officers are working with Illinois social services to determine where to send the children.

Colorado Woman Kills Family of 5: Were Seizures to Blame?

Jurors will begin deciding this morning whether a Colorado woman ignored the medical advice of doctors not to operate a vehicle when she plowed her SUV into a pickup truck, killing a family of five.

Prosecutors say Monica Chavez, driving more than 100 miles per hour with her two kids, apparently had a seizure when she entered an intersection, went airborne and smashed into two cars on a Thornton, Colo., street Feb. 17, 2011. Randy and Crystaldawn Stollsteimer, and their kids, Sebastian, Darrian, and Cyrus, died instantly.

Chavez is facing five counts of negligent homicide and two counts of child abuse for putting her own children in danger. It will all come down to 10 women and two men who will decide whether she is a victim of mixed medical advice and bad judgment or a criminal who deserves prison.

Bamboozling billionaire Stanford gets 110 years in $7B Ponzi scheme

HOUSTON—R. Allen Stanford, the fallen financier convicted of bamboozling billions from innocent investors, has been sentenced to 110 years in Houston’s biggest white collar fraud case since Enron.

The sandy-haired international banker, who once oversaw an empire of everything from yachts to resorts to polo clubs, shuffled into court shackled in handcuffs and leg irons. He later addressed the judge in a long and rambling statement that painted himself as a broken, beaten man.

KHOU - Houston, TX 6/14/12
~~~~~
I've followed this case as it unfolded. There were so many folks that lost every thing because of Stanford.
He deserved the sentence he was handed down. I think it is safe to say, in spite of appeals, he will be in prison for the rest of his pathetic life. The man has yet to show remorse!
Stanford will never enjoy the super luxurious lifestyle that he once knew at the expense of others.
Jacqueline Whittington and Ryan Williams have been missing since May 18th.
SNYDER, TX (KCBD) -
An Austin area family is pleading for help, trying to find two missing teens who were last seen in Snyder about a month ago.
Jana Darling issued a missing person's report for her 17-year-old daughter Jacqueline Whittington and her daughter's 17-year-old boyfriend Ryan Williams when they went missing from Austin back on May 18th.
Snipped:
Jacqueline's debit card was left in the car, and a month later there have been no money withdrawals and no contact of any kind. "I mean she just vanished from the side of the road. I am worried anything could have happened," said Darling.
The family is worried foul play may be involved and private investigator Chuck Foreman took on the case.
"This is definitely out of character for Jax," said Chuck Foreman, private investigator. "Bells and whistles are going off that we have to find them right away. The more time that goes on the more dangerous it gets for them."
Plea-bargain setback for serial pedophile
14:39 AEST Thu Jun 14 2012
One of Australia's worst serial pedophiles has had a setback in his plea-bargain over 66 new child sex offenses.
Dennis McKenna, 67, appeared in Perth Magistrates Court via video-link from Acacia Prison on Thursday, where his case was remanded until July 16.
He is already serving six years in jail for abusing six boys aged 13 to 15 while he was a warden at St Andrew's Hostel in the West Australian wheatbelt town of Katanning in the 1970s and `80s.
McKenna was previously jailed for six years in 1991 for similar offences.
Melbourne police have serious concerns for a teenage girl (pic) who was reported missing in May. (Australia)
A teenage schoolgirl didn't attend class at her Melbourne high school for three months before her teachers finally reported her as missing, police say.
Detectives then discovered the 17-year-old's mother was also missing, with police now having serious concerns for the pair's wellbeing.
"We believe they haven't left the country at this stage, but honestly we've got no idea where they may be," Senior Constable Lyndel Oatway told reporters.
Police say it is especially concerning that the 17-year-old girl, Cin (Clorita) Mon Tong, has not contacted any of her school friends or even accessed her Facebook account since her disappearance.
Man held in Aruba sues over travel insurance claim
June 18, 2012 12:52 PM
A Maryland man who was suspected in the presumed death of his traveling companion in Aruba is suing to collect on a travel insurance policy issued in the woman's name.
Gary Giordano says in a lawsuit that AMEX Assurance Company is required to pay him $3.5 million under the terms of a policy purchased before last summer's trip. He says in the suit that his companion, Robyn Gardner, is presumed dead following her Aug. 2 disappearance and that the insurance company has a "duty to pay the full death benefit" to him.
Giordano was held for months in an Aruban jail on suspicion of being involved in Gardner's disappearance, and the insurance policy's existence had caught the attention of investigators and prosecutors. But an Aruban judge ordered him released in November, saying prosecutors didn't have enough evidence to continue holding him. Giordano has denied wrongdoing and says Gardner was swept out to sea as the two snorkeled off the southern tip of Aruba, though her friends and family have expressed doubt about that statement.
Concern is growing for a 22-year-old mother of one who has been missing for five weeks in Virginia.
Heather Hodges was last seen on April 9 by her boyfriend, 39-year-old Paul Jordan. Jordan told police he had left the couple's Franklin County home at about 10:30 p.m. that night to get Hodges a late-night snack at a Dairy Queen in nearby Wirtz. Jordan told police he was gone for approximately 10 minutes and, when he returned, his girlfriend was gone.
According to Lt. Todd Maxey, of the Franklin County Sheriff's Department, Hodges left behind her 2-year-old daughter and her personal possessions, including her car, purse and cellphone.
All that wasted time and taxpayer money because Congress was worried about baseball players using steroids. There are much bigger issues they could be focusing on. If they are really concerned about performance enhancing drugs in sports, they should start with the sports where concussions are common. According to this article, many autopsies of athletes who died young have shown Alzheimer's-like brain deterioration. This type of deterioration was found in the brains of Andre Waters and Chris Benoit. Andre Waters was a former NFL player who committed suicide, and Chris Benoit was a professional wrestler who murdered his wife and son before killing himself.
Tonight (6/18/12) on the Biography Channel. Times are EDT:
Snipped:
8:00 PM
TVPG
Kidnapped: Free to Kill: The Polly Klaas Murder.
The abduction and murder of 12-year-old Polly Klaas from a slumber party at her home shocked the nation. Polly's killer, Richard Allen Davis, had been arrested 25 times--17 of his last 20 years had been spent behind bars--and he was on parole when Polly was kidnapped. The focus of this episode are the repeat offenders who, like Davis, have failed to rehabilitate. We also examine attempts to protect future victims with new laws and aggressive policing.
9:00 PM
TVPG V
Kidnapped: The Girl in the Box.
In 1977, Cameron Hooker kidnapped 20-year-old hitchhiker Colleen Stan and forced her to be his sex slave for seven years of physical and psychological abuse. At times she was even kept in a coffin-like box under his and his wife Janice's bed. Yet through it all, she stayed, even when it seemed she could escape. In the end, it would be left to a jury to answer the question: Was Colleen Stan brainwashed and forced to endure years of sexual degradation and mental torture as she and Janice Hooker contended, or a willing partner in her own enslavement, and as Cameron Hooker maintained, in a consensual "love" relationship?
10:00 PM
TVPG
Taken: Missing Children: Taken: Missing Children with Elizabeth Smart
It's every parent's worst nightmare: You turn your head for a second and your child is missing. No matter where you live, it can happen to anyone at any time. Elizabeth Smart hosts this new show that takes a heart-stopping look at parents who have found themselves in the terrifying position of searching for a missing child. Told through candid interviews with family members, eyewitnesses and police investigators, and illustrated with dramatic recreations and news footage, Taken is a journey though the terror and heart-ache of families in a desperate search for their child. In this initial episode, Elizabeth Smart shares Jim Pitzen's emotional journey following the disappearance of his six-year-old son, Timothy, from an Aurora, Illinois elementary school. It also follows the story of the Maier family, whose four-year-old daughter, Alisa, was snatched from the family's front yard in Louisiana, Missouri while she was playing with her brother.
J4A, your spot on with your opinion about the HUGE waste of monies by Prosecutor's in some cases. Adam Kaufman was found NOT GUILTY a couple of weeks ago in Fla., the State couldn't prove the case. John Edwards was NOT convicted & the Prosecutor's are not going to re-try him. This case, NOT GUILTY! ALL of these cases, not proven, but come at a heavy cost to the taxpayer's.
I remember the case of Chris Benoit, from all accounts, he had a happy family life, I didn't realize his autopsy showed deterioration in his brain. It doesn't suprise me, I can't believe poor Ali suffering from Parkinson's & who knows what else, is still living, it seems defying the odds. Lance Armstrong can beat cancer, but he can't beat the rumored & endless reports of speculation of his drug use. Monies better spent on getting the answers as you suggest, the problem is not going away for young athletes & answers are needed.
Neighbor heard crying coming from Rodney King's yard
Rodney King's next-door neighbor in Rialto said she heard a man sobbing uncontrollably early Sunday. An autopsy was performed Monday.
By Phil Willon, Los Angeles Times
June 18, 2012, 8:20 p.m.
The investigation into Rodney King's sudden and unexpected death continued to produce more questions than answers Monday, as detectives tried to solve the mystery of why the avid swimmer was found at the bottom of his swimming pool the day before.
Fleeting clues surfaced from a next-door neighbor, who said she heard the 47-year-old King in his backyard sobbing uncontrollably, apparently after he had been up all night. Then she heard a splash.
