Martinez spoke with Sam immediately following the verdict and said he would be in his office for a bit IF she needed him. Another court watcher, Katycoollady ? happened to be on the elevator with Juan as it was descending at close of court. He was by himself. He gripped her hand firmly. He had tears in his eyes.

Aw, how touching about Juan. Not particularly surprising.

I'm wondering if the lady on the front bench by herself, who turned toward Travis' sister several times might have been related to Juan? I did overhear a TH say she was sitting near them. (I'm having a problem relating much, as I was sick, up and down, all the interesting stuff was happening when I was out of the room.)

Katiecoollady - is this the same Katie as the Dr. Drew "juror?" Used to be a Katiecoollady on Justice Quest posting about the James Ray case. Not sure if they are all the same person or not. I think the posting one was somewhat older than the person I'm seeing on Dr. Drew.

Mom and her sister together looking serious. Donovan and her look alike sitting behind the family. Saw them all standing up. Jean Casarez said she had an interview at the Estrella jail with the mother, who was "distraught, weak and shaky." Then Jean said mom didn't know if she would be testifying at the penalty phase, that she didn't know what was happening. Jean also mentioned that grandma walked into the jail and was not in a wheelchair. Two aunts were also there. Apparently they had to wait quite a while to see Jodi. Because of Jodi, they shut down visitation for other inmates.

Sorry, I thought everybody went to bed, LOL. I just saw this on cable, so I don't have a link - was just watching HLN. They are re-running these things all night, I think.

Jean also came back on that show and said that the aunts are flying back home tonight, as is a lot of the family. So they apparently won't be speaking during the mitigation phase. She said mom waved her off after she visited Jodi, but Jean went up to the car and said, "Is she all right?" and the mom said she was okay.

I'm shocked that she got an interview. Will the next step be "Jodi's jail stories", a reality TV show ?

The more I got to thinking about JA, her mother's rude behavior in the court, how her mother tried to sell forged letters trashing Travis's reputation, her aunt's giggling and chatting in court, her aunt having "hearing" problems,her "dying" father (reported by JA to have heart problems, on dialysis for diabetes, on chem for cancer) and NOW?????? Grandma in her wheelchair? Well, we KNOW her father is actively running a restaurant called Daddy O's, her grandmother is hopping over her curbs....

I can only conclude: Their "little nut" didn't fall TOO far from that family tree!

What a bunch of fake, phoney, grifters! Users ALL! THIS is the reason JA is so screwed up! She inherited it and then acquired it from her environment! Bad choices come from bad examples!!!

What is going to be difficult for her is that if she really wants DP, the best would be to say no witness, no mitigation, nothing, to demonstrate that she really wants it (thinking they will give her LWOP). But she can't choose to reduce her time in court because she loves being there. She believes it's her court. She loves hearing people speaking about her, she always thinks that she is going to win. Conversely, allowing testimonies will bring her to court (let's hope not for several monthes) but will show that she was lying again.

Nothing about any of this will ever make sense. She's convicted and can record a what, 45 min interview?

If she 'wanted' to die, she wouldn't have drug this out 5 years. She wouldn't have sat on the stand 18 day, twirling in her chair, acting like a valley girl, 'um, like ya, he yelled at me and I was scared'..

She has watched too many years of HLN, all the crap she spews out of her mouth is calculated for sensationalism. Juan is 'so shady', she has a defense, why didn't they introduce things?? She tried to tamper with testimony. I think THAT is what sealed her fate.

The interview Jodi gave last night is disgusting and disturbing in the extreme. She is just as Dr. De Marte described her, and basically acts exactly as the Dr. stated.
She is self serving and sickeningly manipulative. She is also exactly as Juan stated in his closing. She blames everyone else, is still vilifying Travis, and refuses to show any responsibility or remorse of any kind. She speaks in a 'poor me' little girl voice and cries only for herself.
Jodi is truly her own worst enemy, and a very dangerous person.
I thank God for this verdict and hope that Jodi lives the life she deserves until she dies, and then is condemned to eternal hell. I hope the media and the American people will shun her and not purchase her art, or make movies about her, etc. As with Casey Anthony, WE DON'T WANT TO SEE ANY MORE.
I was very glad to hear that the Alexander family already had a wonderful attorney who is now taking on their wrongful death suit, and is protecting them and their interests.

But she deserves the DP for what she did to TA and you should give it to her for that reason but also because anything less wouldn't be a punishment at all for JA.

The Lifetime Achievement Award would have gone to Granny Arias because there was no one older than her in the courtroom, but she faked that whole wheelchair thing and was disqualified

The night's big winner was The Jury, as they took home Golden Gavels in Direction, Production, Funniest Moment and Best Performance by an Ensemble Cast.

Unfortunately, none of the recipients were present to accept their awards, possibly due to prior obligations, media scrutiny or the fact that the Red Carpet was the runner in my hall, the stage was a stack of phone books and the awards were made out of Popsicle sticks, paper clips and yarn.
