Lash wrote:Good point Tamta! If a person can rape and sodomize a child, what else are they capable of doing? Murder to coverup their sick actions? I'm sure these men would like to avoid prison. I'm sure they fear being raped in prison. We do not know which one, but I think it is important to remember one of these men confessed to the sexual abuse.
What kind of person knows about 'sexual encounters' with SEVERAL young victims and doesn't report it? A person living in fear themselves? A person comfortable with their lifestyle and doesn't care about anything except their own selfish wants? A person who doesn't want their husband to go to prison?
What I get from reading between the lines of this woman's arrest and disclosure of her 'knowledge' is a: "this is what we are dealing here" kind of message.
If this clan, and other tangential individuals, can act and condone actions such as this they can definitely commit homicide and participate in a cover up or flat out lie about their actions and knowledge.
My instinct for months has been that LE knows Brittany is dead and it's a result of criminal wrongdoing that may be tied up with other crimes people close to her are involved in.

(SEMINOLE, Ala.) Authorities in Baldwin County are on the scene right now after a body was found in a ditch.
It was found in the Seminole area, that's near the Alabama-Florida state line.
Authorities believe the body had been there for some time. Right now, deputies will only say the body was found in the ditch, the cause and manner of death are not known at this time.

Man's body found in ditch in Seminole
Last updated: September 6, 2012 6:06 pm CDT
SEMINOLE, Ala. (WALA) – The identity of a man found dead Thursday morning in Seminole has yet to be released.
The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office got a call to the private property by the owner, after making the discovery.
"Property owner was out surveying the property this morning and noticed that the gate was open and some saw grass had been knocked down. He traveled down the road to investigate," said Investigator Eric Winberg.
Winberg said the owner came up on a car he didn't recognize. He got out and walked around the car and saw the body of man.

There have been two different bodies/bones found in separate areas -
Possible Human Bone Found Near Pier
By: DEBBIE WILLIAMS | WKRG

Snip- Now that one of the bones appears to be human for police there is a new sense of urgency. "Our hope is to get the proper testing done to hopefully identify a victim we just don't know at this point," says Woodruff.
The possible victim that is on everybody's mind is Eric Pye. He is the swimmer that drowned during tropical storm Debby. His body has never been recovered. Neither has Birmingham teenager Conrad Hathcoat who drowned a year ago today during tropical storm Lee.

Today Brittney has been missing for 99 days. I wanted to let everyone know if ya'll have heard about the human bone found on Gulf Shore's beach recently, that I contacted the Sgt and the dept on the case to find out weather or not it belongs to Brittney. They have little to go on and have sent it for testing and possiable DNA profile. So it is a waiting game (of course) All they knew was it's human they don't have any idea of even the sex.
Thanks everyone for the support and continued prayers.

I hope all the victims are now safe from these scums! This case reminds me of Aliahna Lemmons. I do not understand how these scums are out on bond with the multitude of charges.
Snip - Donald Holland was Brittney Wood's uncle. He was the last person to see Wood alive, and he later committed suicide.
Investigators said Holland told Kent to commit the sex crimes, and in each case, Holland was either present or listening on the phone.
Kent’s defense attorney John Beck said, “Mr. Kent absolutely denies these allegations."

I will never understand how those accused of sex crimes, especially those involving children are allowed out on bond. This makes no sense to me at all.

Derek Wood Still on the Run
By: LAUREN VARGAS | WKRG
Published: October 15, 2012
It's been more than 72 hours since Derek Wood was last seen by authorities. News 5 spoke with his grandmother Monday, who says Wood has been contacting family members all weekend, claiming he is going to turn himself in. So far, he's still out there.
Family members of missing mother Brittney Wood continue to make headlines for all the wrong reasons.
"It's definitely been an interesting case thus far, with a lot of twists and turns," said Eric Winberg with the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office, who's been the investigator on Derek Wood's case for eleven months.
"Derek has been charged with rape second degree and sodomy second degree. This has been a lengthy investigation," said Winberg.
Investigators say Wood barely qualified for a program which allowed him to be out of jail, but attend scheduled meetings with his corrections officer. When he failed to show up, deputies went looking for him.

Wood's mother pleas for son to turn himself in
Updated: Tuesday, 16 Oct 2012, 8:22 AM CDT

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Monday, the mother of 22-year-old Derek Wood spoke to FOX10 News after her son ran from authorities Friday morning.
Deputies continue to “actively search” for the wanted suspect.
Chessie Wood made a plea to our cameras Monday night, asking her son to call her and turn himself over to authorities.
“I want him to call me and let me come get him and turn him in. That's what I want,” said Wood. “I'm scared. I'm worried about him.”
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office said Derek Wood was suppose to check in with his corrections officer Friday, October 12, but never showed up. Officials tracked Wood outside a home on Dozier Lane in Mobile, using his electronic monitoring bracelet.
Investigators said deputies approached Derek, who was inside a vehicle with a female driver. The pair quickly fled the scene before crashing the vehicle nearby.
Authorities said Wood exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area, where he then managed to cut his electronic monitoring device.

This is very sad. BW was a victim of sexual abuse as a young child. Caution: Court documents are very graphic.

Authorities Will Question Derek Wood Again About His Sister's Disappearance
Published: October 18, 2012
The director of a Pensacola-based search and rescue organization believes Derek Wood could have information about his missing sister.
Brad Dennis- who operates Klass Kids Foundation- says it's possible Derek Wood, and five other suspects charged in a sex crimes investigation, are witholding information about Brittney Wood's disappearance.
"We believe they know something, we'd love for that information to come forward," says Dennis.
So do authorities on both sides of Mobile Bay.
"We're talking family here, blood is thicker than water, so it's difficult to get information," says Investigator Eric Winberg with the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office.

"I took him to his grandmother's house and as soon as he saw T.J. he picked up the phone and called police," said Wood.
There, the brothers spent moments before agents showed up. T.J. said the whole situation has been hard.

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala.) Shocking new details in a sexual molestation case in Mobile County.
A Grand Jury will hear the case against Dustin Kent. He's accused of sexually abusing a relative back in 2008.
Kent is the uncle of Brittney Wood, who has been missing since May.
Prosecutors say the alleged victim said she thought she was going to get a hamster, instead Kent and another family member drove her to a back road where Kent allegedly raped her while that other family member watched.
The other family member has been identified as Donnie Holland, who is also Brittney Woods' uncle who committed suicide at the time of her disappearance.

Testimony: Mobile man raped daughter while her father watched
By Brendan Kirby
October 22, 2012 at 12:42 PM
updated October 22, 2012 at 1:36 PM
MOBILE, Alabama – The uncle of missing Mobile teenager Brittney Wood forced a different relative to have sex four years ago while the victim’s father watched, a police detective testified today.
Sgt. Scott Congleton of the Mobile Police Department, testified at a preliminary hearing in Mobile County District Court that the sexual abuse occurred in 2008 when the girl was 13 years old. Congelton testified that the victim, now 17, did not come forward until the death of her father this summer and a subsequent high-profile search for Wood.
“She was very credible,” Congleton testified.
Mobile County District Judge George Hardesty determined that prosecutors had enough evidence to send first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy charges against Dustin Alton Kent to a grand jury. He allowed Kent 36, to remain free on bail but ordered that he have no contact with the victim or children younger than 16 except for immediate relatives.
Kent also faces sodomy and sexual abuse charges in Baldwin County. Authorities there allege that he molested multiple victims, including the niece from the Mobile County case. Another uncle, Randall Wood, also faces charges in both jurisdictions.

Re: Brittney Wood -- Missing 6/2/12
This is RAPE! In my opinion, if this was not considered 'child molestation' Dustin Kent would not be allowed bond. There appears to be a difference in our courts when rape is defined as molestation and not an assault. Rape is rape. Why does our court systems tend to look at these different? Dustin Kent is still out on bail until maybe December. He should be behind bars. There are multiple victims. He should not be allowed around his own children. What is wrong with our system?

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WALA) - Authorities at the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office said Dustin Kent was arrested on a probation violation on Thursday.
The story is still developing, but authorities said he was arrested just hours ago by the community corrections center.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A hearing was held on Monday for sex abuse suspect Dustin Kent.
Kent, although still on electronic monitoring, did not have his bond revoked as prosecutors had hoped. The state wanted Dustin Kent to stay behind bars.
But Monday morning, the judge sided with the defense.
"They were claiming that he went across the street into a neighbors yard at 2 or 3 in the morning, it absolutely didn't happen," said defense attorney John Beck.
Kent was re-arrested last week after authorities said he violated a bond condition and set off his electronic monitoring device numerous times. Beck argued the device was faulty.

Judge declines to revoke bail for Mobile man accused of raping niece
October 29, 2012 | updated October 29, 2012 at 3:31 PM
Snip - Detective Doug Scarborough, who runs the electronic monitoring program, testified that GPS equipment indicated that Kent left his house and went into the street or a neighbor’s property on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of last week.
“Every time I talked to him, he’s said he’s inside the house and never left,” Scarborough testified.
On cross-examination, Scarborough acknowledged that the alleged violations occurred in the wee hours of the morning and that the monitoring equipment indicated that the defendant never strayed more than 100 to 150 feet from the safe zone.
Defense attorney John Beck said his client has had trouble with the GPS device in the past and has been told to wait to report it in the morning if problems arise in the middle of the night.
“Mr. Kent absolutely, categorically denies leaving his house,” Beck told the judge.
Beck said his client’s wife was prepared to testify that her husband has muscular dystrophy and does not get up in the middle of the night. A woman who lives in a trailer home where the GPS device indicated that Kent went also would testify that he never was there, the attorney said.

"She went missing with jean shorts, she had a pink and teal backpack with her, so those are all items that we're looking for," said Brad Dennis with KlaasKIDS. "But we're also looking for anything that's just out of the normal."
The now 20-year-old mother has been missing for more than five months, but her stepmom Stephanie Hanke says she'll never stop looking for her daughter.

MOBILE, Alabama -- After searching about 30 acres of land in Tillmans Corner, search crews found no sign of missing mother Brittney Wood, 20, on Monday.
"At this point, it's all about the investigation until they uncover something that would lead to another search," said Brad Dennis, national search director for the Klaas Kids Foundation.
Near Rangeline Road, a team of searchers and dogs looked for signs of Wood, including the clothing she was last seen in.
"Right now, it's a process of elimination," Dennis said.

by World Wide Search for the Truth About Brittney Wood
Friday, January 25, 2013
In an effort to reinvigorate the public's interest & support with the efforts to find Brittney we feel that it is in her best interest to repair some misconceptions and attempt to clear up some information concerning her disappearance. The sex crimes investigations and the statements that her disappearance are unrelated have left a very negative impact on the public's perception and the need to find her. It is unfortunate but not really surprising that the public believes she ran to get away from them, is somehow involved in the crimes and is avoiding prosecution or that she is just a runaway who took off without a single word to anyone.
Brittney lived on her cell phone and on social media. She has never been away from contact with at least a family member or close friend even when she was not at home with her family. In other words, Brittney was never "off the grid". She is far too social to be without a human connection of some kind for more than a couple of hours. She simply does not disappear into thin air without a trace. People who are running away do not make dentist appointments. They do not leave their family, their baby and the only friends who they have known their entire lives, from the only place they have ever lived, without any money, the gun they had for protection and without a single word to anyone. Maybe an infinitesimally small number of people have but those people are unlike Brittney in so many ways. It defies common sense and logic to assume otherwise.
Please take a moment to read the summary of events below and share with your friends and family.
Summary of Events
Brittney Nicole Wood did not run away. Someone knows what happened to her and she deserves to be found. Payton deserves to know where her mommy is and that she didn't abandon her.
On May 30, 2012 Brittney made several calls and sent text messages to a few family members & friends throughout the day. One of those calls was to schedule a dental/ortho appointment for early the following week. She also made a few calls and exchanged several text messages with her uncle Donnie Holland.
Donnie Holland picked up Brittney from Chessie, Mendy & Dustin's neighborhood around 7:30pm on Wednesday, May 30th. Records show that Brittney & Donnie arrived together at the home where Donnie Holland was staying in Styx River around 8:20pm.
Throughout the evening Brittney texts back & forth with a few friends until around 11:20pm. After that time she does not answer any calls or texts she receives. Her cell phone dials her voicemail at 12:07am but disconnects after a few seconds. This was the last time her phone pinged in the area of the Styx River home.
There is no more activity or pings from her phone until 1:47am when a text message is sent from the Grand Bay exit off I-10. This was also the last number she sent a text to about 40 minutes prior to the 12:07am VM call in Styx River. Her phone never made another call, sent a text or pinged again.
Donnie's phone left Styx River around the same time Brittney's phone accessed her voice mail at 12:07am, as noted above. One hour later, his phone pinged in the Tillmans Corner area. Donnie's phone never pinged in the Grand Bay area.
Donnie sent Brittney a text early the next morning (May 31st), she does not reply. That day and continuing over the next day and a half he sends her several text messages and calls her up until the morning he allegedly shoots himself with her gun on June 1st. The shooting occurs around the same time he was expected to turn himself in to BCSO for the four month investigation into the same sex/molestation crimes as the others who have been indicted since her disappearance.
Where is Brittney??????

"Hoping it is, hoping it isn't," said Stephanie Hanke. "Wanting closure, but not wanting this kind of closure. But wanting answers."
Brittney Wood has been missing for more than nine months. She's one of countless missing men and women whose families are still missing.
"Anytime there's a discovery like this, those that are missing loved ones become concerned that their missing loved one has been found," said Detective Burch.
Authorities say it's still way too early to tell who the bones belong to.

Two men who were arrested last year in connection with a sex abuse investigation were denied youthful offender status today.
Derek Wood, 21, of Mobile, and Donald Holland Jr., 21, of Daphne, had youthful offender hearings before Circuit Court Judge Jody Bishop.
Bishop's ruling means Wood and Holland will be prosecuted as adults.
Wood is the brother of Brittney Wood, who has been missing since May 30. Brittney Wood was 19 years old when she disappeared.

Special Report: Missing Brittney - The Untold Stories
Two part video at link
Updated: Mon, 29 Apr 2013 | Published : Wed, 24 Apr 2013 | Andrew Perez
Snip - The search continued as authorities arrested relative after relative in connection to an alleged child sex ring involving Brittney's family and friends. Investigators said they had been looking to talk to Brittney about the sex crimes before she even went missing.
"We oftentimes look for that golden nugget. That one person that can make the difference in your case," said Detective Eric Winberg, former lead investigator on the family sex abuse investigation in Baldwin County. "In this particular case, Brittney Wood was that person. She was the person that could tell the whole story."
It's a story that technically began February 26, 2012 when investigators said Brittney's uncle, Randall Scott Wood, called authorities to report the family sex abuse.
Investigators, along with Brittney's mother, believe the missing teen was a victim herself. Authorities believe Brittney was one of the only victims who knew that other children were being abused by numerous relatives as well.
For some, the abuse started at three-years-old and goes on to their adulthood,” said Det. Winberg.

Hanke believes, however, that the arrest of Chessie Wood, who is among the most vocal in her daughter's missing persons case, is likely to make people hesitant to join the search for Brittney Wood.
