Re: Jodi Arias--Trial for the murder of Travis Alexander #23
I have just tuned in and I am very disappointed: this jury have been on the ball up to now I feel for the Alexander family it must be torture for them.
I hope they come to a decision soon as this is driving me crazy, I dont know if I will follow another trial after this, it is too nerve-wrecking.

I have listened so carefully to Jodi's interviews last night.
One guy from the Arizona Republic, guy with mustache, asked her about whether or not she is this "oh why did this happend to me?"
And Jodi goes on to explain that after listening to this pscyhologists and being told that she may not have done this, or may not have done that, IF ONLY her parents had done "fill in the blank"
THIS FILTHY GIRL IS BLAMING HER FAMILY STILL. SHE'S BEEN DOING IT FOR YEARS.
THIS IS ALL THEIR FAULT. SHE WON'T LET THEM FORGET THAT.
LMAO

Prisoners are artists with the brush or the pen. I should clarify that: Prisoners either sketch or write with the PENCIL... Death row is full of them award winners. Some get good! Then again, they have a lot of time where they DON'T have to work, clean house, mow a yard, wipe a nose or butt, or even answer the phone, grab a snack, or run a tub of hot water... All done for them. Even the laundry.Mari 68 wrote:I just saw another clip of her marathon interviews last night.

probably get a married to boot and get a Tax-payer funded
College degree as well
With Life (in gen pop) there is HOPE.
I want her hope to be extinguished.
C'mon Jury! it's not like they will put her to Death Tomorrow! probably never will
GRRRR....
I read somewhere that if she gets married while being in prison, they get to have sexual relationships , so she could get pregnant...I mean they would give the baby to the father but still she could get pregnant. I'm not sure if what I'm saying is correct, but I think that in prison you can get married and have relations with your husband or wife. Does anybody know if this is correct??

HLN LIVE Blog:
"Here are some more notes from HLN's producer in courtroom about what just happened in court:
Judge: If you unanimously find the def should be sentenced to life, life without the possibility of release means the def will not be eligible to be released... At this time the attorneys will be able to make a brief argument about this instruction.
Willmott: if you choose life in prison, she will never get out, if you choose life in prison, other part of the instructuon...the other part whether judge can give her parole, at this time there is no procedure to give her parole. She will die in prison. Sentence her to die in prison..
Martinez: The jury instructions speaks for itself, f you unanimously find the judge will find, possibility of release after 25 years, eligibility, is the judge's not yours. Once the def has been given a right, just because there's no procedure now. She will be given a legal right to be eligible
1:45 p.m. ET: From HLN's producer at the courthouse:
"The judge read an instruction to them, regarding life in prison. Each attorney, Jennifer Willmott and Juan Martinez gave a biref argument with Jennifer also getting a brief rebuttal. Jennifer argued that a life term would essentially mean life, because there is no procedure in place that would allow Arias to be paroled."

Seems to me the jury only needed clarification on the terms.

Just thinkin'....they deliberated 1.5 hours yesterday. Came in today, called in almost immediately by JSS to read an instruction she had forgotten, and shortly after that they submitted their question regarding "if" they weren't unanimous.
I'm beginning to think (hope !) that the additional jury instruction led them to needing clarification of "what if", not necessarily that they had already gone through their entire deliberations and came up divided. It seemed to happen too quickly after the first courtroom round-up.
They were thorough in phases 1 and 2, and I cannot imagine they would rush through phase 3, the most difficult decision of putting someone to death, in a mere 2 hours.
That's my story and I'm sticking with it

Yes, when I read that it makes more sense, but HLN is totally confusing me because the reporters are saying they had a hung jury...That's why im so confused??

IF the jury gives her life instead of death, she is NOT sentenced right away. There will be at least 4 to 6 weeks of more legal crapola, testing, etc.
After all that, the judge then sentences her to life with parole or life without the possibility of parole---the jury will NOT have that decision---so people, unless she gets death, she will be heading back to Estrella jail for at least another month where I am sure she will be giving more interviews, tweeting, selling artwork and artifacts, trashing Travis to whoever will listen, and making life as miserable as possible for the Alexander siblings and friends.
BOTTOM LINE, IF THE JURY VOTES FOR LIFE THEY WILL HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL OVER WHETHER THAT IS LIFE WITH OR WITHOUT PAROLE! ONLY THE JUDGE WILL DECIDE.

Praying for clarity for this jury. They've been thoughtful all through this trial and I have faith they will see their way through this part of the process also.
Some years ago, I was a juror in a federal murder, arson, insurance fraud. There was one man who was difficult and provocative during deliberations...almost like he enjoyed being the "instigator". He eventually came around but it took 3 days. I honestly think since he was retired, he didn't want the party to end. I sooo wanted to throttle him.

Just more ammunition Judge Stephens can use when she gives her NO PAROLE!
and then we get to hear Judge Stephens chastise Jodi. I, for one, am waiting on that.
I want to hear the judge tell her what a monster she is.

That will be the cherry on top of this cake! I'm very interested what Judge Stephens has to say after months of silence.Mari 68 wrote:18thcenturylady wrote:IF the jury gives her life instead of death, she is NOT sentenced right away. Guess what?????
I just read something cute on another website.
Jodi will be in prison this summer. *I* will be in a bathing suit looking smokin' hot and enjoying the pool!
WE will all be enjoying our families and laughing and eating and drinking - good times.
Jodi will be in prison. Isolated.

She is still a tool.
I have a Gf who got lwp and she would write me and tell me how life is.
It would be a 2nd chance. She could draw and read and make friends.
I was told it's basically like living at college you just aren't allowed to leave.
She's salivating at the exciting prospects of being a 'famous' inmate.
If they give her life, there is a possibility of parole.

That's right, Sassy, and she could also have other perks like getting a college degree paid for by taxpayers, and more! How can the jury even consider life when there is a possibility this monster COULD get out someday, or at least have some kind of life in jail.
Travis is dead and had no chance for any kind of life whatsoever---she made sure of that.

Dear Jury, just remember, per JA, TA is no longer here because he was an abusive pedophile.. She said 'I'm sorry' because he made her do it. She's sorry he made her do it. But she survived and promises to fulfill all her prison-club promises cuz she's a woman of her word.
I would LOVE to know what she manipulated that reporter with, off the record, to see if he'd earn his post verdict interview

I want to know if JA is being paid directly, into an acct, thru her family, etc., for ANY of these interviews.
That, to me, is the FIRST thing I would address IF I was the reporter doing the interview. I would clear up that issue. It would lead to credibility issues...

Travis did this. JA likes to "mirror" others. She wanted to BE everything he was. So. UMO. Of course she would write it all down. Besides, it keeps it straight for her and her eventual book... deal. Ghost written so she can funnel money to her family and away from herself.sassy5d wrote:She probably writes down her daily 'tasks' on a 3x5.. Oh brother.

I think the jury will not reach any decision today. They have less than an hour left. Back at this tomorrow. I only hope they can come to a meeting of the minds. It has to be weighing on them as well as the family and everyone else.
Did u see the interview where the tormentor said she wasn't worried about the death penalty because it would be years away anyway. There are no words.

I'm starting to get a pretty bad feeling about his jury.

Please excuse my question as I getting off the topic, but I was reading back and found her journal entry saying that she was broke because she kept giving money to Travis. Then i googled it and found articles on him allegedly having financial problems. Does anyone know if she did lend him money and if he did have financial problems. Thanks and again sorry for going off topic. May the jury agree tomorrow.

Beth Karas just told of a case in Maricopa County last year, a DP case, whereby the jury came back twice telling the judge they were deadlocked. Judge sent them back two times told them to keep deliberating...four days later they returned a verdict of death.
This jury has been steadfast since the beginning. They've paid attention, put up with BS, endured Nurmi's sex talk, submitted intelligent and right on questions, showed up when told to and went home when told to, and got us through phase 1 and phase 2 with a just verdict.
As hard as it is to wait, the jury has given us no reason to doubt they are doing their job with utmost diligence. Let's keep the faith and see it through.

In Arias trial, TV cameras never far behind
Wednesday, May 22, 2013
By: Associated Press
PHOENIX — The Jodi Arias trial had all the ingredients of a circus the minute it started: sex and violence, a defendant more than willing to seek the spotlight, a judge who extended leniency in allowing lengthy testimony and cameras in court — and a media-savvy sheriff ready and willing to set up jailhouse interviews with his most famous inmate.
The spectacle surrounding the case reached new levels in the minutes after Arias was convicted of murder two weeks ago when she told the local Fox affiliate in a stunning interview that she wanted the death penalty. But the frenzy didn't stop there.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio, whose office runs the county jail system, later gave reporters a tour of Arias' cell. And on Tuesday night, his office allowed Arias to do a series of jailhouse interviews just hours after the jury began deliberating whether she should get the death penalty.

something about "never being a Mother" or some such...
knowing how she sneaks taunts and snarkiness into everything she says, I'd be willing to bet Hodi will make it her life's ambition to GET PREGNANT if given LWOP...
probably get a married to boot and get a Tax-payer funded
College degree as well
With Life (in gen pop) there is HOPE.
I want her hope to be extinguished.
C'mon Jury! it's not like they will put her to Death Tomorrow! probably never will
GRRRR....
I read somewhere that if she gets married while being in prison, they get to have sexual relationships , so she could get pregnant...I mean they would give the baby to the father but still she could get pregnant. I'm not sure if what I'm saying is correct, but I think that in prison you can get married and have relations with your husband or wife. Does anybody know if this is correct??
No conjugal visits in Arizona - thankfully, Jodi will not be reproducing except by some other process. There are maybe about 7 states that allow it. I think that once it was a big deal, and it seems to me that after a while, a lot of states decided against it.

Jury deliberating Arias’ sentence adjourns for day after impasse, instructions to keep trying
By Associated Press, Published May 22, 2013
PHOENIX — Jurors in the Jodi Arias murder trial said Wednesday they were unable to reach a unanimous verdict on whether she should be sentenced to life in prison or death for killing her one-time boyfriend, prompting the judge to instruct them to keep trying.
The panel reported its impasse after only about two and a half hours of deliberations. Judge Sherry Stephens told jurors to try to identify areas of agreement and disagreement as they work toward a decision.
The jury then continued deliberating until late afternoon, when it adjourned for the day without a decision. Deliberations were set to resume at 10 a.m. local time on Thursday.

A look at the next steps in the Jodi Arias case
Published May 22, 2013
Associated Press
~Snipped~
LIFE: If the sentence is life, Judge Sherry Stephens has two options in imposing the term. She can send Arias to prison for the remainder of her life with no chance of release — or make her eligible for release after 25 years. It's not known if the judge will make the decision immediately or set a later date for the formal sentencing.
DEATH: If the sentence is death, Arias' case will automatically be appealed under Arizona law. It's a process that takes years to play out, and Arias says she would continue to appeal such a sentence until she has exhausted all of her options. Only then could she be executed.
JUDGE: The jury's decision is final. Judges in some states have the authority to override a jury's sentence decision, but Stephens made it clear to the jury Tuesday: "You will determine whether the defendant will be sentenced to life in prison or death. Your decision is not a recommendation."

Thanks for sharing! That gives me some hope!

18thcenturylady wrote:IF the jury gives her life instead of death, she is NOT sentenced right away.
I was considering this over dinner, and I'm wondering if perhaps the jury is afraid if they give her life, they think they might not be able to trust that JSS would make it LWOP. The only thing they have to go on is her leniency toward the defense, and it may not have occurred to them that is her way of trying to avoid a mistrial. Personally, I don't think there is any way JSS would give anything but LWOP.
Perhaps this is a less negative sign than we think, because maybe they are just wanting to make sure that no parole ever happens.
Call me Pollyanna, LOL.

As I was rolling around with the top down on my convertible.. And now I'm sipping on some red wine, I realized she is toast. At this point, it doesn't matter what verdict they come back with. She can talk on camera's all day long, just so she can change up her mundane routine, get the chance to slap on make up.
I can do that any time I please.
She has destroyed her own life, countless lives. As much as I've enjoyed following and thinking and sharing with everyone.. At the end of the day, we have choices. Yes, she'll have choices but she will always have to depend on someone else to allow her to make choices. People can tell her no. She's a tool, she's done ;)

If she never woulda smiled for her mug shot and took pictures of the murder.. This woulda been open and shut, less than a month... No 900 side bars, requests for mistrials. She would already be going away silently...

Travis was not as sound financially after being involved with Jodi. He lent her money and he neglected his business for awhile. He paid for some of her trips and gave her his car (she was supposed to pay him for it) etc. She was broke because she only worked as a waitress sporadically. She was always taking 'roadtrips' and it was amazing that anyone would hire her because she was gone more than she was there.ladymary wrote:Please excuse my question as I getting off the topic, but I was reading back and found her journal entry saying that she was broke because she kept giving money to Travis. Didn't watch most of the punishment phase butvI can't help laugh at all the regurg of things that were 'oh no way' from the DT and now it's OK and YES. IMO, I'd probably be thinking, as a juror, wha wait a sec.. Your entire case was a fraud.. What ARE you hiding?
