Freckles, thank you for being a voice of reason when I don't feel very reasonable. I really don't care about JA because you're right, she will rot behind bars. Its the family that had my heart tearing apart. They have given up their lives to be together and support their brother. Stephen's marriage suffered, jobs lost, for the completion of justice. Now, there is still more to come. What kind of shenanigans are yet to be put forth? Will she get new lawyers who will say they need 2 yrs to catch up with the case? Will there be more postponements until a normal human can't take another minute? What lays in store for them now? All from a demon seed.

They did leave and now momma gumsmacker is pizzed because she 'wasn't in the front row' for her POS spawn when the decision came down. Can we send out a big 'AAAWWWW'? thought not. pfft to that family of grifters.
Wow, I was trying to put a term to fit her fam and all I could think of was "grifters". (Twilight Zone music)

Freckles wrote:This AM, I stood in my kitchen and looked at the beautiful spring morning that was unfolding. When did winter finally leave and this carpet of green roll in? I dunno but the birds were singing their joyous songs. And as I stood there I thought of exercising. And then my thoughts turned to JA and exercising turned to .... EXORCISM! And I thought of someone being hired to exercise the exorcism over JA's soul...
Let's stand behind this family. They need and appreciate the support.
YESYESYES!!!
I'd always hoped to be around to send my support to the Alexanders' after the media frenzy faded...maybe not- since GOD knows when the heck that'll be now...but YES Freckles...I'm hoping all the excess frenetic energy whippin' about now will be channeled into good for them.
That is indeed the good thing about catastrophic illness- taught me a thing or two 'bout not looking at what/how you WISH things had turned out...all I've got is WHAT IS & just get off your duff and work with it AS IT IS! 'Cause it's pretty dang good, all things considered. I ain't that demon for starters.
And I am around to send them support. So let's get to it peeps!

The 'buzz' is it was 1 holdout.
DISAPPOINTING.
I'm actually amazed at how I feel ...like I was punched in the stomach...not nearly as bad as July5 2011 though.
I will NOT give the Talking Heads 1 second of my time/attention on this case until we either start again..
or the Court decides...whatever.
What I WILL do is donate $50 bucks to the Alexanders as my
form of protest of Convicted Murderer and my support of the Family.
THIS^ is something I CAN CONTROL!
How does it go?..." things I can control and the wisdom to know the difference" ..?
In fact I hope there is such an unprecedented out-pouring of support that it completely eclipses any attention Convicted Murderer and her under-handed, SLANDEROUS Defense team.

We always feel better when we reach out to help another.
This is a time to do that.
Do it for them and you will feel better for yourself, too.
BTW, LITTLE EMMA NEEDS YOU TO WRITE THE COURT ASKING FOR HER MOTHER TO BE DENIED PAROLE, A WOMAN WHO KNEW OF EMMA'S SEXUAL AND PHYSICAL ABUSE AND HID IT UNTIL EMMA WAS BATTERED TO DEATH!!! DO NOT LET THIS EVIL WOMAN WALK FREE!
Please. A simple letter or email simply stating, "Do NOT grant her parole at this time." That is ALL that is needed but it is needed TODAY.

Her words can be used against her. She is a felon. Convicted of first degree murder. Convicted of the aggravating factor of especially cruel. She cannot get less than life, whether lwop or 25 to life....parole boards are not easy to sway and I defy anyone to think our damsel would get out after 25 if that is her sentence. Mari commented several times today to remind us that she is NOT getting out. And...she still has to meet her Maker. Some day. Good luck to her on that day, right????
the longer she is out front and center - the more she will be exposed.
I know I said this earlier, but the 2nd jury hasn't "bonded" with her. Most importantly, they don't know half of what we know. @glazier, i feel you are right with the 11-1. that makes my heart heavy. @ Freckles, support for the Alexander family is of utmost importance.
Let's all remember Travis' words....the difference between a stepping stone or a stumbling block is the character of the person (paraphrased). High Five, T Dogg. We're with ya all the way. It will be done.

Oh, I agree! They know the case and they should be required to SEE IT THRU!
Maybe, JA can request it as she has before?

You folks are wonderful! Even during this frustrating and disappointing time you have good thoughts and are holding on to absolutely GREAT outcomes of this trial. She is a convicted felon guilty of per-medicated murder! She was convicted of a heinous murder. Those things stand TRUE. She can't run away from them.
She no longer can give interviews. Also, Juan will regroup and come out stronger!!!!
All of us are sad for the family. That shows that we care about good people. They are supported by millions more than Jodi. We need to be pleased with the good outcomes and gather the strength to support the family when the next phase comes around.

Wow. Freckles, can you put that info about Emma & what her mother did in this thread? I know it's not 'on topic' but I'm wondering if there's anything RC can do to harness the frustration over this JA verdict to doing good for Emma (or any other urgent situations). Reading the background really motivates! My letter is on it's way out the door!
Also, maybe where we can all find the link again to the Alexander's address? I know it's on here, but I'm just trying to think of ways RC can motivate as many people as possible to ACT NOW for the good we can do instead of dwelling on what we cannot change.
Thanks again F!

Here is another positive vibe to hold onto:
In most other States, the Convicted Murderer would have sentenced to LWOP when the Jury was hung in this phase.
It would be over, all due to only 1 holdout...even if the other Jurors wanted the DP.
In this case THERE IS STILL A CHANCE!
Slim? hmmm...I don't know, it depends I guess, but it still could happen...right?
and just think...they could have hung on the 'cruelty' phase
and I imagine that would have been a much harder burden to overcome. So...while we (and hopefully the Alexanders)
are relaxing with friends-n-family over the long Holiday weekend CMJA will be in a tiny window-less cell.
Ahhh. I feel much better...and will even more after I get my Lazy A** to pull out a debit card and
Donate some $$ to the Alexander Fund!
"...don't worry bout a thing...every little thing gonna be alright.."

That is true! Good eye! We will give that lil' a new thing to be jealous of...world-wide love and support for Travis Victor Alexander, the Alexanders, and any other good, deserving soul who needs us! New headlines in the news for her to screech to herself about. Ding-dong, the Witch STILL might have a fork to stick in and let her know she's DONE!

I had been thing of writing to Juan for a while just to show my admiration, but I thought with how damn busy the guy must be it might not be appropriate? But what do I know!
Maybe this is a usual thing?
Words can't really express my admiration for all that man does for society against seemingly an avalanche of SCUM.
He is the Voice for the Victims who have had their voice stolen and I honestly don't think anyone could have done more for Travis.

I agree! Don't know what to do with the admiration & respect he's EARNED...It's beggin' to find an outlet.
I too hesitate, 'cause I know he's busy, and I'd want it to be supportive, not a hinderance at all.
Just get so ticked when the media spins 'our' respect and gratitude to him as unwarranted hero worship (can't find the right words here, but several mentions on the tele have reduced what I see as authentic respect to celebrity fluff)...
So gimme a shout out y'all if anyone has insight for how to address this positive issue.

Maricopa County Sheriff statment on hung jury in Jodi Arias penalty phase
By Greta Van Susteren
May 23 2013 - 8:44 PM ET
The following is an official statement from Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio:
Because the jury in the Jodi Arias murder trial was hung, Arias will remain as a closed custody inmate in the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Estrella Jail. Arias has been in Sheriff Arpaio’s care and custody for five years and will stay with MCSO until the judicial system renders a final conclusion as to her fate. As a closed custody inmate, Arias remains in her 7×11 cell for 23 hours a day and Arpaio will no longer permit Arias to give media interviews. END
Sheriff Arpaio and staff will not make any further comments on this case.

Maricopa County Attorney releases statement on deadlocked jury in Jodi Arias penalty phase

County Attorney Comments on Outcome in State v. Jodi Ann Arias
PHOENIX, AZ (May 23, 2013) – Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery released the following statement in response to the lack of a unanimous decision in the penalty phase of State v. Jodi Ann Arias:
“We appreciate the jury’s work in the guilt and aggravation phases of the trial and now we will assess, based upon available information, what the next steps will be. As of this point in time, the Court has set a Status Conference for June 20 and we will proceed with the intent to retry the penalty phase. Because, for purposes of a jury determination on punishment, this is still a pending matter, there will be no further comment.”

The next steps in Jodi Arias case
The Associated Press
May 23, 2013
PHOENIX — The jury in Jodi Arias' murder trial has failed to reach a verdict against the woman they convicted of murdering Travis Alexander. The next steps:
NEW JURY:
The judge scheduled a retrial on the penalty phase for July 18. A new jury must be seated to decide the punishment. If the second panel deadlocks, the judge will then sentence Arias to spend her entire life in prison or be eligible for release after 25 years. The judge cannot sentence Arias to death.
NO DEATH:
The prosecutor could decide to take the death penalty off the table and agree to a life sentence. The judge would sentence Arias to spend the rest of her life in prison. Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery issued a statement Thursday saying: "As of this point in time ... we will proceed with the intent to retry the penalty phase."

New jury to decide Jodi Arias' fate after penalty phase mistrial
By Catherine E. Shoichet, CNN

A retrial for the penalty phase will begin on July 18, Judge Sherry Stephens said. A status conference has been scheduled for June 20.
The hung jury brought to a close a dramatic chapter in a high-profile case that has lasted for months, drawing spectators who lined up for courtroom seats and waited anxiously outside the courthouse.
But the closely watched trial isn't over yet.
In many states, the death penalty would be off the table if the jury couldn't agree.
Not Arizona.
"It's a very unusual circumstance, but it is part of Arizona statute that yes, if you get to this third phase, the penalty phase, and there is a hung jury, it means another jury comes in," said CNN's Ashleigh Banfield, who has covered the Arias trial from the outset.

I thought there was a paypal account for donating to the Alexanders but the only 1 I tried said no longer active?
It was posted on the 'support' Thread here...something with facebook or some such...
I did see the Address for Samantha so maybe that would be better anyway, more personal...write a little letter and send a check.
Yep, that's the ticket!
But there probably should be something Online because that would reach more people easier...?
VERY pleased at Arpaio statement!!
I'm tellin' ya this could be a blessing in disguise!
Someone up-thread posted something like "the longer this goes on the more she is exposed"
Very True!
Sometimes the Public outrage reaches a tipping point.
We all saw it with the massive backlash and boycotting of
KC and her minions! The good people will only stand so much!

Wow
8 to 4!?!
4 Jurors agreed it was premeditated...
and then took like 2 hours to agree it was cruel...
but then decided the mitigators outweighed the aggrevators.
This makes no sense to me.
I was certain it was just 1 or 2.
I wonder what they will think when they see all the Evidence
that was withheld from them?
Unless they were closet anti-DP people in which case they
in which case they will bask in the glow of their moral superiority.
Arrg! I'm sick and disgusted all over again.

18thcenturylady wrote:...Wait until this jury sees Hodi's interviews, esp. the one w/ Ryan from GMA---JUST saw the bit where he asks her if she got out someday, would anyone have to fear her.
She is cold as ice and has the exact snarky tone she used w/ Juan during his cross of her. She says "Not unless they threaten me or yell at me...etc."---Words almost identical to what she said on the stand about Juan 'yelling at her and grilling her'
Oh. My. God.
I didn't expect her to change, but when I saw this interview and her dead eyes and very cold hard voice when she said this, I was gobsmacked. It clearly shows she has NO remorse whatsoever and there was a lot of anger in her tone. NO doubt that she still hates Travis. You could feel the rage still! I do believe she re-lives the murder in her mind and enjoys every bit of it, and I am SURE that she was screaming and snarling at him like an animal all during the killing.
This made it so obvious that her 'speech' to the jury was again, all lies, and she was manipulating them again.
IF they don't give her death, I believe that when they see this interview, and maybe others, as well has learn a lot more about Jodi, they will be VERY rattled and upset with themselves.
God help us if this monster EVER gets out, and unless she gets death, that possibility always exists!
Jodi Arias CANNOT be fixed or rehabilitated. Travis said it; a veil was ripped away one day---how, we may never know---and he said "You are pure evilness".
HE SAW IT, and I do not believe Travis was in the habit of exaggerating or would ever use that description lightly.
In my mind, I can so clearly see her committing this crime, and I see the horror, pain, fear, and disbelief on Travis face, over and over.
IF this jury can't get it together and do the RIGHT thing---give her the DP, I really fear she may manipulate a parole board one day.
I know that a lot of money has been spent on this trial, but I agree with the TH who said they think if we get a hung jury Juan will not negotiate with Hodi for life. They think he will start over and try with another jury.
Maybe that IS best.
I think he could use all these interviews in court against her. THAT MIGHT BE THEIR SAVING GRACE.
I think they would scare the hell out of most members of a jury!
This woman hates the Alexander family as well, and mark my words, she WILL do whatever she can get away with to make them suffer, for as long as she is able.
If Jodi does not get the death penalty it will be disaster and misery for many, many people.
I am still praying and hoping it won't come to that, but IF....
That is pretty scary about Ryan's interview. Brrr. Isn't he the one, though, who challenged her about when she was going to tell the truth and why the library lady masquerade? I could tell she was ticked at him for not worshipping at her feet as in her fantasies of how the world should see her and she wasn't about to let him off the hook for being a "hater." Anyone who doesn't buy every bit of her crap is a "hater." Evil witch.
She is such a piece of work. I'm so glad they shut her down again for interviews. She does NOT get to go on TV and yammer to everyone about how there were people who "realized" she was "innocent" so they "could not in good conscience sentence her unfairly." She does NOT get to go on and snark at Juan and at Travis' family anymore. HLN says the sheriff immediately put her on 23 hour lockdown, just as she would have had if sentenced to death - just she will be there in the jail instead of prison. I'm not sure of the reasoning, and don't understand why he didn't do that the day she was convicted, but, hey, better late than never.
I want to hear from the holdouts why they did this, even though I understand their difficulty. I still want to know. Looks like no one is giving interviews. I had no idea there would be so many holdouts - but as someone said earlier, she suspected those who held out on the felony plus first seem to be the ones who held out here.
Juan digging in his heels, too, at least so far, but if they don't retry the penalty phase, I think what Vinnie Politan proposed, no appeals, no parole, would be the best they could do. And NO interviews, NO tweets, no publicity whatsoever, or in the hole she goes!
Otherwise, if they do go forward with another jury, I hope as well that they hear all these interviews and all the stuff that was withheld from this jury. That is half the problem; we have to remember the jury did not get all the info we got; they did not see all her heinousness as we did.
Although I have to say I am surprised after all the time she spent staring them down with her Hoody Hodi eyes, they did not get the hint. But they did come forth with a just verdict and a just finding on cruelty; we can thank them for that.
Judge Larry Seidlin needs to take 10 seats about his asinine statements about "mob rule." :shut up:

Well this is why she needs death. She will kill again in prison. That place is full of peeps who yell and threaten
I agree, Tess - she is truly evil.
If she gets into a prison fight, she is a small person - despite the fact she is pure evil, she will most likely find herself the definite underdog. Even though she managed to get Travis off guard, without a knife, my bet is on her opponent.

But Darryl Brewer also lies to US and to the jury. He was resistant when Juan questioned him about the gas cans - had he been told she was going to Mesa - he reluctantly, and in a hushed tone, admitted "yes"
And when Juan was asking him about did he remember Jodi returning to his home to bring something back. Darryl Brewer was smart and savvy enough to avoid "opening the door" to getting that damn DVD remote information out. Darryl knew. He lied.
IF he had acknowledged the remote, just merely acknowledging it, Juan could have asked "how did your remote get into her car?"
So f'k him, too.
Okay? He's a sick-ass bastard.
If any of those jurors believe Jodi used Travis' gun, and only found the pre-med due to the deliberate act of slicing his head off, then those may well be the jurors who don't find death for her.
They could be thinking, well yeah, it was pre-med and cruel, but Travis might have attacked her and she was just trying to protect herself with HIS gun.
Good point in the last paragraph, Mari.
I am confused about how the remote plays into this. I came into the trial at a point after which they were talking about the theft at grandma's. I'm assuming people think the remote is proof she was behind the theft. is that correct? Was it found in her car and Darryl is claiming it was his? I know everyone is upset about Darryl's testimony, but I only heard a little of it as a rerun.
Thanks in advance!

Well, chit. "Contemporaneous" is a comparative term; one thing is contemporaneous with another. So when she used it to mean that if she got the death penalty, she wouldn't be dying soon anyway, that was dumb. I think it betrayed the fact that she is indeed nervous about the DP even while she's trying to act cool as a cucumber. When she asked the reporter if she understood, I felt she was being her condescending self, acting as though the reporter probably didn't know the meaning of the word. Meh. Unimpressive, Jodi.

Nothing has happened and nothing will happen that God doesnt allow.
Shes a convicted murderer and will never get out. Her interviews are done. WE are done with her.
Maybe Juan tries again. Maybe not.
If the 4 hold outs believed Travis may have started the fight, the next jury wont be bogged down with Jodi's stories and teeter on "its possible Travis had a gun and linged at her". The next jury wont have any emotions for/with Jodi.
But even if Juan lets it go to the judge for a life sentence, Jodi is gone. And for good.
